DOOM now runs on a $30 FNIRSI DMC-100 clamp meter with 32 KB of RAM, likely making it one of the lowest-RAM ports of the game in existence. Artur Bieniek built the port on the meter's Artery AT32F415 chip, which runs at 150 MHz but offers almost nothing in the way of memory.
Despite the constraint, Bieniek loaded all nine maps of Freedoom: Phase 1 Episode 1, plus the title screen, intermissions, finale, menu, and four save slots. Color output runs on the meter's 320x240 display. Sound effects play through the built-in buzzer. Controls are handled by a DJI RC-N1 drone controller, which is its own story.
The full write-up and source are on GitHub. What's worth reading is not just the end result but how Bieniek stripped doomgeneric down to fit inside 32 KB, a constraint that forces decisions most embedded developers never have to confront. The video is linked. Watch it, then go read the code.
