London band Ashnymph released their debut EP, Childhood, on Blitzcat Records, fusing post-punk melody, Krautrock motorik rhythms, and industrial grime into four tracks built for both headphones and dancefloors.
The EP opens with an ambient hallway recording before dropping into 'Island in the Sky,' driven by a four-on-the-floor beat and bass throb. Digitally manipulated vocals sit buried under layers of reverb, pulling the sound toward dance goth territory without losing its abrasive edge.
This is a debut worth tracking. The full review at The Verge breaks down the individual tracks and makes the case for why this band is close to something much bigger.
