A 2008 Nintendo DSi is now streaming PC games over a local network at 15 to 20 FPS, thanks to a homebrew project called RNDS-Stream by developer gavff64. The setup decodes an MJPEG stream from a Linux PC, mirroring any X11 or xWayland window to the handheld's screens with low enough latency to play casual titles.
The project is built on RubyNDS, gavff64's own Ruby-based homebrew framework for the DSi. Audio streaming is not yet implemented. The motivation is purely personal preference: gavff64 likes Ruby and likes the DSi. That combination produced something no one else bothered to build.
The full source is on GitHub under an MIT license. What's worth reading in the repo is not just the streaming hack but RubyNDS itself, a functional Ruby runtime targeting DSi homebrew, which opens the door to whatever someone builds next. Audio support is listed as a future goal.
