Microsoft is releasing a limited edition Xbox Series X to mark 25 years of the platform. Called the Xbox Series X25, it ships in translucent green, a direct callback to the original Xbox hardware from 2001. Storage is 1 TB. The controller matches.

The design choice is not cosmetic nostalgia for its own sake. VP of next generation Jason Ronald framed it explicitly as honoring the OG Green colorway that defined the original console's identity. This is the first time a translucent finish has appeared on the Series X form factor.

The full announcement breaks down release timing, pricing, and what else Microsoft revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. If you care about the product roadmap or the direction Microsoft is signaling for the platform's next chapter, that context is in the original piece.
