Oracle's Group Vice President Richard Lam is using OpenAI's Codex to let non-technical business users query internal company data by describing outcomes in plain language, bypassing the need for SQL or engineering support.

The system handles the full pipeline: Codex interprets the request, pulls from internal systems, and returns an analysis, report, or working application. That last part is the detail worth reading for, generating a deployable application from a natural language prompt is a different category of capability than a chatbot answer.

The full Oracle case study on OpenAI's site goes deeper into how this is implemented at enterprise scale, which matters because most AI productivity claims stop at the demo stage. This one appears to be in production.
