A developer named sau412 has built custom PDA firmware for the ESP32-based Cheap Yellow Display, a sub-$10 dev board sold widely on AliExpress. This is not a Palm OS emulator or port. It is original firmware, inspired by Palm-era devices, flashed via a web-based tool in under five minutes.
The feature list is serious: a Gopher browser, RSS reader, Wikipedia reader, BASIC interpreter, calendar, calculator, contact list, ebook reader, and translator. Games are included. An SD card unlocks additional apps not testable without one. The decision to skip a general web browser is a feature, not an omission.
What makes the full project worth reading is the implementation detail behind fitting this suite onto a microcontroller with severe memory constraints, and how sau412 structured the app framework to keep it extensible. If you want the original Palm OS on x86 or ARM instead, Pumpkin OS is the path. For the CYD, this is currently the lowest-friction PDA build available.
